Bug-out to the Beach with Life's Rad!

The weather is getting warmer and the sun is out longer - perfect weekend and vacation weather! Sadly, most of us don’t have summer breaks anymore and the weekends can feel short and far apart. Having a bug-out bag handy is great when you just need to break away and recoup! Whether you’ve had a long day at work, you’ve been pent up inside for too long, or have the spontaneous urge to stick your toes in the sand, having a bug-out bag ready can be a lifesaver! It has all your essentials packed and ready to go in one convenient place; just throw it in the back of your car and you’ll always be beach-ready. Read on to hear what we've put in ours!
Beach Bag - The most important part of a bug-out bag is likely the bag itself. Our Mermaid Beach Bag will work perfectly - it’s big enough to fit everything you’d need and because it’s made of jute, the sand won’t stick to it!
Towel - This one is a no-brainer! If you’re going for a swim or just lounging on the sand, you’ll need a towel. Grab your favorite beachy one and keep it in your bug-out bag so you’ll always be prepared. We love this one from our friends at Beachmate!
Bathing Suit - Another must for your own bug-out beach bag is a bathing suit. Having one on hand is great in case you’re heading for the water straight from work. For the girls, we suggest this cute one piece suit from PacSun; for the guys, we suggest these retro Duvin trunks. Pro-tip: adding a Life's Rad tank like this one can be really helpful as well for days when there's just a little bit of wind chill.
Hat - No matter how short your visit is, you should always be protective when you’re in the sun. We can help out with that! The “Life is Rad” Script Hat is adjustable, comes in multiple colors, and is perfect for keeping the sun out of your eyes and off your face.
Water Bottle - Staying hydrated is always a good idea. We suggest keeping a reusable bottle in your bag to fill up as you’re on your way out. We recommend this bottle from Swig but they have plenty more to choose from that range in size and color.
Book - A good book can be a great stress-reliever. We recommend keeping something light in your bug-out bag to have with you. After a long day at work, the best way to decompress is with a fun read, your toes in the sand, and the sound of the waves as the sun sets. What could be better than that? Cosmopolitan just put together a list of the top 15 beach bag reads for this year and we loved it; check it out here!
That’s what’s in our bug-out beach bag; what’s in yours? Let us know - we’d love to hear!
